Maccabi GB Community Fun Run Raises £16,000

The 2016 Maccabi GB Community Fun Run saw 132 athletes of all ages and abilities running, jogging and walking to raise funds for Nicki’s Smile.

Together they managed to raise a fantastic £16,000 which will go towards funding pancreatic cancer early diagnosis research initiatives.

The 10th edition of the event saw the biggest turnout yet with over 2,500 runners, 2,000 spectators and even the sun paying a visit Allianz Park, home of Europe’s best rugby union team.

In our second year of entry we are proud to say that Nicki’s Smile was represented by the 3rd largest contingent of runners out of the 69 charities and schools that took part. A special mention must go to Nick Lavan (pictured below) who led the Nicki’s Smile runners with a 3rd place finish in the 10km run.

Dan Blake, chair of Nicki’s Smile said “We were delighted that over 130 people of all ages took part at this wonderful event to raise much needed awareness and funds for Nicki’s Smile. All monies raised will directly fund pioneering early diagnosis research. We are so proud that Nicki’s Smile could be one of the many worthy charities to be involved in such a successful day”.
