Charity Zumbathon raises over £3,500
01/06/2015
Three hours of non-stop Zumba raised over £3,500 for Nicki’s Smile on Sunday 7 May.
Organised by a group of mothers from north London the Zumbathon was led by the very energetic Heidi vandenBroek and her team from zumbaClubNL. They brought the Free Church Hall in Hampstead Garden Suburb alive with music, dance and all shades of lycra.
Away from the intensity and vibrancy on display inside the Zumbathon arena children were entertained with face painting and games. Men competed to concoct ingenious reasons not to participate in any physical activity and busied themselves selling raffle tickets.
Dan Blake, chair of Nicki’s Smile said: “I’m delighted the inaugural Nicki’s Smile Zumbathon was an incredible success raising over £3,500 for our special cause. On behalf of everyone involved with Nicki’s Smile I would like to pay a special tribute to organisers Kerry, Leonie, Susie and Stephanie and to Heidi and her team of Zumba instructors. They all helped ensure it was a phenomenal event.”
